School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The newly formed School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at The University of Western Australia and since the beginning of 2008 has been closely aligned with PathWest.. Since its establishment by public subscription in 1956, the Medical Faculty has won itself an enviable reputation for excellence in both teaching and research.
The School is located at both of the major teaching hospitals in Perth, the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, a short distance from the main campus at Crawley and Royal Perth Hospital.
Combining teaching and research activities together with laboratories co-located with PathWest, infrastructure includes tissue culture and molecular biology facilities, as well as routine histopathology and electron microscopy laboratories. All of these facilities are available for use by postgraduate research students. Science students have the opportunity of doing an Honours as well as other postgraduate courses such as Post Graduate Diploma in Science, Master of Science, Master of Laboratory Medicine(by coursework includes Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Immunology, and Clinical Microbiology), Master of Medical Science, and PhD programs. |
